MR lymphangiography for detection of minimal nodal disease in patients with prostate cancer.

چکیده
Ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide contrast agents (USPIO) phagocytosed in lymph nodes provides a map of macrophage activity. MR imaging after USPlO injection has been used to demonstrate tumor infiltration as reduced or absent uptake. Our present study evaluated the utility of USPlO induced signal intensity changes in lymph nodes for staging patients with prostate cancer. Also assessed was the utility of postcontrast images alone in characterizing lymph nodes.

CT/MRI of nodal metastases in pelvic cancer
The accurate detection of lymph node metastases is one of the most important challenges in cancer imaging today, for the presence of nodal disease is a powerful adverse prognostic indicator. Pre-treatment detection of malignant nodes determines patient management, frequently distinguishing surgical candidates from those best suited to non-surgical therapy. However, the results of CT and MR imag...
متن کاملEvaluation of Plasma Interleukin-8 Concentration in Patients with Prostate Cancer and Benign Prostate Hyperplasia
Background: Prostate specific antigen (PSA) has been used as a screening test for the early detection of prostate cancer (PC) for many years. Although the introduction of PSA test led to a considerable increase in reported prostate cancer cases, there is still some controversy over the sensitivity and specificity of this marker in distinguishing PC patients from those with benign prostate hyper...
متن کاملSignal Intensity of High B-value Diffusion-weighted Imaging for the Detection of Prostate Cancer
Background: Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is a main component of multiparametric MRI for prostate cancer detection. Recently, high b value DWI has gained more attention because of its capability for tumor characterization. Objective: To assess based on histopathological findings of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided prostate biopsy as a reference, an...

متن کاملThe value of MR lymphography in the detection of lymph node metastases in patients with prostate cancer
Objectives: To compare the diagnostic accuracy of CT and MRI in the diagnosis of lymph node metastases in prostate cancer. Methods: After a comprehensive literature search, studies were included that allowed construction of contingency tables for detection of lymph node metastases by CT or MRI. In addition, a summary ROC analysis was performed. Results: A total of 25 studies were included. For ...
